Shoot AlongTell us a bit about yourself.

Kevin: I live in North Carolina and I have one child - Oliver Presley, 2 1/2 Years old!

Shoot AlongWhat single piece of photography equipment (aside from your camera) could you not live without?

Kevin: Hmmm, tough question.. I would say, the 85mm because it's so versatile, and I didn't take it off my camera for over a year.

Shoot AlongName another photographer whose work you find inspiring.

Kevin: I honestly don't follow very many photographers, but Lisa Holloway is a friend of mine and I always enjoy her style. We have been friends a long time, and she still inspires me.

Shoot AlongWhat is the best photography advice you've ever received?

Kevin: The best advice I ever received was to be myself. I know it sounds cliche, and it kind of is... but it holds a lot of weight in photography. It's important to choose your style and hammer it until you can do it with closed eyes.

Shoot AlongHow do you make documenting your family through photography a priority?

Kevin: It really hit me a few years ago how important it is. I lost someone who was very very important to me to cancer. He was such a blessing in my life, but I didn't have many photos with him. I still think about it a lot. I wish I had done more. Time flies. Document everything!

Shoot AlongTell us about the image you've shared? What makes it special to you? What did you do to make it happen?

Kevin: This image is special to me because this is a true snap shot of my son's life right now. He loves lassoing everything, and everyone. He watched a cartoon with a sheriff who uses a lasso, and ever since he has been hooked. I wanted that memory of this time so I did this photo. He will only be 2 once!

Shoot AlongShare a mistake that you made when you were first learning about photography. How did this mistake help you grow?

Kevin:  The biggest mistake I made was marketing myself too early in my community. It's hard to outlive your first impressions, sometimes. I was able to overcome it, but it took some time. Just be patient, and continue to work hard.
