Do I have to post images in the private Facebook group?
No. participating in the private Facebook group is optional! Some parents find it very useful to post images and receive encouraging feedback from others who are learning about photography at the same time. The group is a friendly, non-competitive option for those who would like to use it. There are separate groups for members doing the year long project and those doing the 8-week courses.
What kind of camera should I have?
The lessons are best followed with a DSLR, mirrorless, or creative-controlled camera and any lens. It is not necessary to purchase a new camera or any specific lens, flash or extra equipment.

No. Lessons are designed for all levels. If you are new to photography you can learn and practice new concepts right away.
I am an experienced photographer. Will this be too easy for me?

Can I give a membership to a friend?
Yes! Shoot Along makes a great gift. Many people undertake the project with a friend, sister or teenage child. It’s wonderful to encourage each other throughout the year and see how your photography improves. Gift certificates are available in the shop.
Do I have to buy Photoshop Elements 14 for the editing videos when participating in the year-long course?
We demonstrate editing on Photoshop Elements 14 because it has sophisticated tools but is not as expensive as the professional versions of Photoshop or Lightroom. Its a great piece of software to invest in if you are just getting started with editing. You may apply the ideas demonstrated in Photoshop Elements 14 to most other software programs. We recommend that if you plan to learn from the videos, you have Photoshop Elements running on your computer so that you may practice demonstrated editing techniques yourself. If you have a higher level of Photoshop running, that is also acceptable.
